Position Description:

Strategically leads the Sustainability initiative for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities. Responsible for the development, implementation and management of sustainability initiatives. Partners with internal departments to ensure overall strategic initiatives are met. Drives sustainable practices, minimizes environmental impact, and advances corporate social responsibility goals. In addition to sustainability, oversees special projects to innovate and make positive changes in the organization and the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes operations plans to achieve goals.
  • Identifies and establishes strategic partnership opportunities that meet the sustainability goals.
  • Develops strategic solutions to ensure sustainability critical goals are met
  • Engages with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, customers, investors, and community groups, to foster support and collaboration on sustainability initiatives.
  • Works with Marketing and Communications to identify and develop strategy for communicating with local community partners about GCNA.
  • Engages with internal partners and leaders to identify areas of opportunity and growth within the organization towards sustainability initiatives.
  • Establishes partnerships with local communities and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to initiate sustainability projects that positively impact the environment and community.
  • Collaborates on community engagement in a variety of ways including representing the organization within community boards and other sustainability related organizations.
  • Meets with SVP of Sustainability to provide updates and report out on sustainability projects.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to develop a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with the company's long-term goals. Identifies key sustainability priorities and sets ambitious yet achievable targets to drive progress.
  • Strategically engages in the evaluation of business opportunities and environmental changes to anticipate current and future business needs.
  • Develops strategic solutions to ensure that mission critical goals are met.
  • Visits other organizations regularly to learn, engage, and build critical knowledge towards sustainability efforts.
  • Stays up-to-date on sustainability trends within the community by attending seminars and classes for continuing education.
  • Works with Learning and Development (L&D) to develop sustainability training programs for Team Members at all levels to raise awareness and promote sustainable behaviors within the organization.
  • Models Goodwill Core Values - Trust, Collaboration, Engagement, Ownership, and Innovation.
  • Plays critical role in driving company culture change efforts and change management processes.
  • Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.
  • Partners with the Marketing Team to develop sustainability-focused campaigns that showcase the organization's commitment to environmental and social responsibility, enhancing the brand's reputation.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years' management, leadership and mission related experience required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook as well as Google Suite.
  • Can professionally communicate in written or verbal form with intention and clarity.
  • Ability to speak and read English proficiently.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
  • Strong history of quickly building relationships, as well as gaining credibility and partnering with peers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple processes with minimal supervision.
  • Valid drivers' license and clean MVR.
  • Ability to pass a background check, fingerprint clearance, and drug screen, where applicable for position.
