Position Summary Excelligence Learning Corporation is seeking a hands-on Paint Manufacturing Supervisor to oversee daily production operations at our Gardner, Kansas facility. This role is responsible for supervising the production of paints, glues, liquid watercolors, and other coating products while ensuring quality, safety, efficiency, and inventory accuracy. The ideal candidate is a strong manufacturing leader with experience in production supervision, quality control, inventory management, and process improvement. This position requires a proactive individual who can effectively lead employees, troubleshoot production issues, and maintain a safe and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities Production & Operations
- Supervise and coordinate daily paint manufacturing operations to meet production schedules and quality standards.
- Oversee the production of paints, glues, liquid watercolors, and related coating products.
- Ensure all products are manufactured according to established specifications and procedures.
- Assign daily production schedules and employee work assignments.
- Monitor workflow and production output to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Maintain daily and weekly production records, including labor hours, productivity, and waste reporting.
Team Leadership
- Directly supervise Paint Manufacturing Operators and other assigned personnel.
- Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to production employees.
- Promote a positive, productive, and safety-focused work environment.
- Assist in staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning as needed.
Quality Control
- Perform and oversee quality control testing and inspections throughout the production process.
- Conduct routine spot checks to ensure products meet quality standards.
- Ensure only approved and quality-tested products move forward in production.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues promptly.
Inventory & Materials Management
- Maintain accurate inventory records of raw materials used during production.
- Monitor material usage and identify opportunities to reduce waste and spoilage.
- Conduct monthly and periodic physical inventory counts.
- Verify incoming raw materials and ensure receipts match purchase orders.
- Maintain inventory and storage areas in an organized and safe manner.
Equipment & Maintenance
- Ensure mixers, scales, hot water systems, quality testing equipment, forklifts, and related machinery are operating properly.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and equipment repairs.
- Troubleshoot equipment and production issues to minimize operational disruptions.
- Maintain equipment maintenance logs and records.
- Ensure proper startup and shutdown procedures are followed.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure employees properly use required safety equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant manufacturing environment.
- Promote a culture of workplace safety and continuous improvement.
Reporting & Administration
- Maintain batch tickets, production reports, inventory records, and other required documentation.
- Input and maintain production data within company systems.
- Prepare reports and provide updates to management regarding production performance, inventory, and operational issues.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing, production, or warehouse experience.
- Previous supervisory, lead, or management experience required.
- Experience in paint, coatings, chemical, food, or batch manufacturing environments preferred.
- Forklift experience required.
- Valid driver's license required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions, bending, reaching, and other physical activities associated with manufacturing operations.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment.
- Moderate noise levels.
- Seasonal temperature variations ranging from approximately 50F in winter to 90F or higher during summer months.
- Exposure to dust and airborne particles associated with manufacturing operations.
- Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required.
