The Role

This position will sit onsite in Medford, OR.

The Director, Quality RN provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and programmatic direction for Oregon Region Quality Management & Medical Staff Services (ORQMMSS) in alignment with the Providence St. Joseph Health Integrated Strategic and Financial Plan.

Reporting directly to the Executive, Oregon Region Quality and Medical Staff Services, the Director partners with system, enterprise, and regional leaders-as well as clinical, administrative, financial, and programmatic stakeholders-to align efforts and drive sustained performance across all ORQMMSS domains.

The Director collaborates closely with Providence Medical Group, Home & Community Services, ambulatory care, Clinical Programs, and statesupported initiatives as applicable. This role provides guidance on planning, prioritization, implementation, and evaluation of quality and operational initiatives to ensure effective resource use, coordination, and standardization across the Region.

The Director, Quality RN coordinates activities across multiple domains, including Accreditation, Patient Safety/Risk Management, Quality & Medical Staff Services, Utilization Management, and Clinical Documentation Improvement, and serves as a subject matter expert engaging leaders and staff to improve the quality, safety, reliability, and outcomes of care.

The position provides leadership and management for Clinical Project Managers and delivers direct mentoring and development for Quality Management and Medical Staff Services Directors and their teams. What You'll Do

Strategic Leadership & Alignment



  • Collaborate with Oregon Region executives and ORQMMSS leaders to establish strategic objectives that promote a unified vision and culture.
  • Support development and execution of priorities identified by Providence Health & Services, the Oregon Quality Council, and individual ministries across the continuum of care.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the Clinical Performance Improvement Plan for the Oregon Region.
  • Serve as a member of the ORQMMSS leadership team and liaison to ministry executives, Chief Nursing Officers, and Directors of Quality Management & Medical Staff Services.
  • Maintain strong relationships with ministry administrative teams and professional staff to integrate physicians into decisionmaking and align with organizational priorities.
  • Assume leadership of the Division in the absence of the Executive Director as required.


Operational & Management Leadership



  • Lead and remain accountable for the performance of the Oregon Region quality team, including Clinical Project Managers and other direct reports.
  • Ensure Quality and Medical Staff Services functions maintain continual readiness and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Plan, direct, and oversee quality, patient safety, risk management, and performanceimprovement programs while minimizing variation and optimizing resources.
  • Advance continuous quality improvement using LEAN, Change Acceleration, and multidisciplinary team approaches.
  • Demonstrate agility and flexibility in adjusting strategies to achieve outcomes in evolving environments.
  • Lead and manage clinical project portfolios, setting expectations, tracking progress, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement mentoring and leadershipdevelopment programs supporting succession planning.
  • Identify and address education and training needs for Quality and Medical Staff Services leaders and teams.


Program Oversight & Regional Collaboration



  • Coordinate with Regional Directors of Accreditation, Clinical Analytics, Patient Safety/Risk Management, and Utilization Management/Clinical Documentation Improvement.
  • Manage and oversee the portfolio of quality and performance initiatives and communicate progress to executive leadership.
  • Define scopes of work for requested services, including quality improvement, analytics, and performance engagements.
  • Maintain expertise in emerging healthcare trends to serve as a consultant to leaders accountable for quality improvement.
  • Build and sustain a collaborative clinical network to align qualityimprovement efforts across the Oregon Region.
  • Promote highreliability behaviors and patientsafety principles.
  • Partner with Clinical Project Managers to maintain compliance, quality, and reliability across the region and its ministries.


What You'll Bring

Education & Licensure



  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Business, or Healthcare Administration, or enrollment in a Master's program.
  • Oregon Registered Nurse License (required upon hire) .
  • Completion of required background check per Providence policy.


Leadership & Experience



  • 7+ years of nursing experience, including 5+ years in an acutecare setting.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership and management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing professional staff who work independently on complex initiatives.
  • Recent experience with CMS, The Joint Commission, state and federal surveys, and principles of high reliability.
  • Indepth clinical expertise in care delivery, patient safety, quality, and reliability.

The full pay range is listed in accordance with applicable law. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, organizational compensation alignment, and the approved hiring department budget for the position. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation and benefits.
