Description

Minimum Requirements



    • Possess good judgment - must pass the job description physical capacity functions test.
    • High School Diploma a must.
    • 2 years dispatching experience or knowledge of the cement/construction or trucking business
    • Valid State of Hawaii driver's license, Class 3 or higher. Acceptable driving record.
    • Knowledge of basic computer skills to include MS Office programs.
    • Must submit and pass a drug screening and security background check. Obtain a TWIC security card.


    Preferred Requirements



    • 1 year mechanical experience
    • Associates degree
    • JD Edwards expertise.
    • 2 years supervisor experience
    • Lean Six Sigma "Green Belt" Certified


    Duties and Responsibilities



    • Supervises bulk loading operations at the Kalaeloa Terminal to ensure on time delivery rate goals.
    • Ensures dispatchers conduct daily maintenance checks and report equipment issues immediately to the Operations Manager.
    • Inspects plant equipment to ensure continuous operation.
    • Coordinates bulk loading operations with the Operations Manager particularly as it pertains to PM, repairs and out of normal hours of dispatch coverage.
    • Oversees terminal housekeeping.
    • Ensures all contract truckers conform with terminal safety rules.
    • Oversees the DOT tractor/trailer compliance program.
    • Performs site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions.
    • Maintains accurate dome cement inventory. Manages like shipments to ensure same quality product per customer demands.
    • Simple troubleshooting of material distribution mechanical problems. Monitor and discuss distribution problems and maintenance schedules with co-workers and supervisors.
    • Supervises dispatchers, which includes handling employee time cards, performance management, personnel scheduling and mentoring IAW Company policies and the Collective Barging Agreement.
    • Hire and train new dispatchers to meet Division certification standards.
    • Tracks and reports all cement inventory reports to include Neighbor Island and CIP.
    • Tracks and reports all Division efficiency goals.
    • Manages Cement Ship Reconciliation process.
    • Conduct visits with new and existing customers support logistical need.
    • Manages fly ash and other division commodity bulk deliveries.
    • Manages bulk vessel Bill of Ladings and costs associated with Ship Operations.
    • Processes and posts required information on all Oahu sales delivery tickets to ensure accurate invoice billing via JWS.
    • Work a flexible schedule according to operational requirements.
    • Initiates and maintains customer relations and provides resolution to all bulk delivery needs.
    • Monthly reporting to the Operations Manager.
    • Certifies all new truckers on the company's plant safety procedures.
    • Must obtain a Weigh Master License.
    • Reports all safety incidents pertaining to contract truckers.
    • Develops and maintains Division and contractor accident reports.
    • Performs drug and alcohol tests.
    • Enforces company rules, policies and regulations and maintains a clean and safe work area.
    • Communicate effectively and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.
    • Meet tight project deadlines while maintaining quality results.
    • Executes Kina Ole (Lean Six Sigma Projects).
    • Always works safely and takes action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes and behaviors. Ensures company safety goals are achieved and be a role model of company safety and environmental policies, procedures and behaviors.
    • Promotes company's Mission and Vision statements.


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Utilization of company computer, various software programs and other office equipment. Use of IT products to manage deadlines, communicate with others, and develop spreadsheets (e.g. EXCEL).
    • Can perform Grade 3 Dispatcher tasks.
    • Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with customers, suppliers, inspectors, and co-workers.
    • Must understand and follow written and oral instructions. Must be able to read and comprehend equipment and operations manuals.
    • Lean Six Sigma "Green Belt" Certification
    • Able to work in varying environments, from air-conditioned office to dusty, noisy field conditions.
    • Be physically able to climb stairs and ladders or other physically demanding tasks necessary in performing field inspections up to 80ft high.
    • Must possess valid Hawaii State Driver's License.
    • Able to work a flexible schedule, to include holidays and weekends, according to operational requirements.
    • Must be able to work in a non-smoking workplace.
