Job Title:Patient Service Specialist (PSS)

Location:Gilman Street, Portland, ME
Schedule:Full-Time | Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Work Setting:On-site only (not remote)

About the Role:

For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering a $3,000 sign-on bonus for qualified applicants. This bonus will be prorated for part-time positions. Please note this bonus is not available for per-diem positions. Current MaineHealth employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth employees are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.

MaineHealth is seeking a friendly, organized, and dependablePatient Service Specialist (PSS)to join our Adult Specialty Care team in Portland. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for patients and play a key role in delivering a positive and seamless healthcare experience.

This position offers aconsistent weekday schedulewithno nights, weekends, or major holidays required- ideal for those seeking work-life balance in a professional healthcare setting.

What You'll Do:
  • Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and compassion

  • Schedule patient appointments and coordinate referrals

  • Manage front desk administrative duties including check-in/check-out, verifying insurance, and processing co-pays

  • Support general office operations and ensure patient flow runs smoothly

  • Collaborate closely with clinical and administrative staff to support patient care

Summary:
The Patient Service Specialist role ensures patient scheduling and referral needs are met while assisting in the general administrative and patient service needs of the practice.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: N/A
  3. Experience: Six months of medical office experience required.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: N/A
  5. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Proficient computer skills.

The pay range for this position is $20.27to $24.36 per hour.

Compensation for part-time positions isdeterminedon a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
