Position Summary

The Site Lead Physician is a practicing primary care physician who provides clinical and operational leadership for theBoston Medical Center (BMC)BrightonorBMCSouthadultPrimary Care practices of Boston Medical Center Health System (BMCHS). This role is central to the System strategy to support primary care access as BMCHS grows and provides the opportunity to develop, shape and lead these practice sites from the ground up. This role ensures high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting provider engagement, operational efficiency, and alignment with the system's mission and goals. The Site Lead Physician serves as the clinical voice for the site, working collaboratively with practice management, nursing leadership, and system leaders. Fitting with BMCHS's vision that primary care should serve the community in which it is located, the Site Lead is responsible for understanding the needs of the community and tailoring the practice as possible to fit the needs of the community it serves.

This position will dually report to the Chief Clinical Officer of BMCHS ordesignee. The position will also maintain relationships with other physician leadership in Primary Careand Family MedicineatBMCBrighton,BMCSouth,andBMCMain Campus,and theBMCBrighton Department ofMedicine. This position will interface operationallywith management atBMC Brighton or South and the VP of Primary Care for BMCHS. Individuals for this role should be excited about the prospect ofbuildinganddevelopingnewsitesforprimary care.

Individualsapplying for this role should have at least 5years' experiencepracticingadultprimarycare and be board certified in internal medicine or family medicine.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership

  • Serve as the lead physician for the primary care site, modeling best practices in patient care, teamwork, and professionalism.

  • Promote evidence-based clinical standards, quality improvement initiatives, patient engagement and satisfaction, and patient safety practices.

  • Act as the clinical liaison for primary care between the site and system-level physician leadership.

  • Take initiative with others on the team to identify, implement, evaluate, and refine new methods of health care delivery and operating models inprimarycare.

  • Foster a collaborative, team-based care model that integrates physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and staff to provide high-quality interdisciplinary care.

  • In certain sites and subject to the direction of BMCHSinternal medicineresidency program leadership, provide guidance and leadership to residents, students and other trainees within the clinic, as well as managing physicians working as preceptors for trainees

Physician & Staff Engagement

  • Lead recruitment and retention of clinicians to build and maintain the clinical team.

  • Serve as a mentor and advocate for practice physicians and APPs.

  • Facilitate communication between site providers and health system leadership.

  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Monitors the performance and productivity of medical providers to ensure that they meet organizational standards and intervene in a timely fashion when such standards are not met

  • Ensure that the clinical team understands the components and drivers of value-based care and manage the components of total cost of care that can be impacted by effective clinical teams.

Operational & Practice Management

  • Partner with the Practice Administrator and other administrative staff on operational planning, patient flow,template design,scheduling, and resource utilization, across both community and academic modes of practice.

  • Support site-level performance on key metrics: access, patient experience, panel management, productivity, and quality benchmarks.

  • Provide input into staffing models, workflow design, and technology adoption to improve efficiency.

  • Help resolve operational or clinical issues that arise within the site.

System Integration & Strategic Alignment

  • Ensure the site's goals and performance align with the health system's primary care strategy, including the management of both academic and community models of care, productivity and panel management.

  • Engage with academic and community medical staff and leadership on clinical care and quality initiatives

  • Participate in system-level committees or workgroups representing the practice.

  • Support initiatives related to value-based care, population health, and care coordination across the system.

The base salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to clinical FTE, qualifications, experience, education, board certifications, specialty, training, and scope of practice. The above hiring range represents a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Any eligible incentive compensation is not included in the above compensation range and will be discussed during the interview process.
