Job Title: Public Safety Dispatcher Department: Mercer Police College/Division: General University Primary Job Posting Location: Macon, GA 31207 Additional Job Posting Locations: (Other locations that this position could be based) Job Details: Mercer University Department of Public Safety is searching for a Dispatcher on the Macon campus. Responsibilities: The Public Safety Dispatcher serves as the primary communications center for the Department of Public Safety and is responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency calls for service, dispatching police officers and security personnel, monitoring life safety and security systems, and providing timely and accurate information to responding personnel. This position is critical to maintaining the safety and security of the university community by coordinating emergency response efforts, prioritizing calls for service, maintaining communication with field personnel, and documenting incidents in accordance with departmental policies and applicable laws. The Dispatcher is expected to remain calm under pressure, exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, and provide exceptional customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and outside public safety agencies. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Qualifications: A high school diploma/GED and some experience in customer service, communications, dispatch, public safety, emergency services, law enforcement, or administrative support are required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
