As the Director of Business Development, you'll play a pivotal role in driving Haskell's continued growth by developing and executing strategic sales and marketing initiatives that generate new opportunities. Guided by our Every Location Matters strategy, you'll leverage our regional presence to strengthen client relationships, expand our market influence, and position our offices as strategic hubs that fuel business growth, enhance our brand, and deliver exceptional experiences for both clients and employees.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Regional Market Leader to develop and execute business and economic development strategies to drive growth and expand Haskell's presence within target markets
  • Leverage established relationships with AEC firms, private developers, and industry partners to identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities
  • Lead sales efforts from initial outreach through project award while fostering long-term client partnerships
  • Collaborate with Market Leaders to qualify opportunities and develop winning pursuit, proposal, and presentation strategies
  • Represent Haskell as a local market leader through active engagement with business organizations, economic development boards, trade associations, and industry events
  • Coach pursuit teams and provide strategic guidance on client engagement, presentations, and business development best practices
  • Plan and manage industry events, trade shows, marketing initiatives, and the division's annual marketing budget
  • Stay informed on regional market trends and industry developments while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and positioning Haskell for long-term growth

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

  • A deep command of the public and private construction industry
  • A well-rounded business acumen, with expertise across financial management, marketing, estimating, and people leadership
  • Exceptional leadership presence, with the ability to align teams, influence stakeholders, and communicate with clarity and purpose
  • A proven track record of building, scaling, and elevating regional offices into high-performing, growth-oriented markets
  • A powerful local network and reputation, with the ability to activate relationships and consistently generate new business opportunities
  • The ability to create visibility and brand awareness within professional business circles and organizations to serve on committees or promote other Haskell colleagues into such opportunities
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Education/Experience:

  • 10+ years of demonstrated success driving sales and business development within the AEC industry strongly preferred
  • Minimum of a 4-year college degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five years' experience in engineering, construction, or a related field

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
