Life Safety/Security Communications Specialist - JLL

What this job involves:

As a Life Safety/Security Communications Specialist, you'll serve as the vital communication hub within a fast-paced, multi-discipline operations center, directly safeguarding personnel and assets for our clients. This role places you at the center of critical incident response, where your ability to receive, assess, and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls makes an immediate difference. You'll maintain constant situational awareness by monitoring access control systems, surveillance cameras, fire alarms, and other critical infrastructure across multiple sites. Working collaboratively with security, EH&S, facility operations, and crisis management professionals, you'll ensure rapid, appropriate responses to incidents while supporting business continuity objectives. Your exceptional customer service and decisive action during high-pressure situations will contribute directly to JLL's reputation for operational excellence and client protection.

What your day-to-day will look like:

* Process emergency calls for security, fire, EMS, and HazMat incidents, evaluate priorities using Emergency Medical Dispatch guidelines, provide pre-arrival instructions, and dispatch appropriate resources per established protocols.

* Monitor and respond to access control system alarms, video surveillance systems, fire alarm panels, and multi-site radio communications, assigning appropriate resources to investigate and resolve issues.

* Utilize the Critical Event Management platform to disseminate urgent messages to key stakeholders during major events, account for personnel safety, and maintain communication with third-party monitoring companies.

* Create, monitor, and manage work orders for multiple sites using Corrigo and other work request applications, ensuring accurate data entry and timely completion of callbacks.

* Serve as liaison between site EHS, Facility, Corporate Security personnel and external emergency services (EMS, law enforcement) during incidents and emergencies, coordinating seamless information flow.

* Maintain comprehensive incident documentation using CAD systems, complete detailed incident reports as required, and identify opportunities for process improvements.

* Monitor and dispatch fire system impairments across multiple facilities while adhering to client-driven standards and business unit specifications.

Required Qualifications:

* High School diploma or equivalent with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

* Willingness and ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime as an essential employee during all site closures and emergencies.

* Strong multi-tasking abilities with excellent organizational skills, capable of functioning effectively in dynamic, high-pressure environments both independently and as part of a team.

* Excellent interpersonal skills with strong emphasis on customer service, business writing, and verbal communication abilities.

* Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and the ability to research information, identify priority issues, and escalate concerns appropriately.

* Ability to sit for extended periods while maintaining focus and situational awareness across multiple monitoring systems simultaneously.

* Completion of Public Safety Telecommunicator I certification and Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification within required timeframe.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Associate's degree in emergency management, criminal justice, communications, or related field.

* Two or more years of experience in security operations centers, law enforcement, emergency medical services, fire services, or related public safety roles.

* Technical knowledge of access control systems (C-Cure 9000), video surveillance platforms (Milestone), and CISCO phone systems.

* Experience with threat assessment tools and emergency mass notification systems for critical event management.

* Current CPR certification, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification, or Public Safety Telecommunicator credentials.

* Familiarity with Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems and multi-site facilities management platforms.

* Demonstrated experience coordinating with external emergency response agencies and managing complex incident communications.

Location: Onsite

Work Shift: Two-week rotating Pittman Schedule (2-2-3 rotation: Week 1 - 4 days/Week 2 - 3 days or Week 1 - 3 days/Week 2 - 4 days).

Alternative 40-hour weeks (1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts) may be utilized based on operational needs.

Shift differential of 8% and 10% applies.

This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Estimated compensation for this position:

52,000.00 - 52,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
