IMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer in Ontario, California, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex projects. In this role, you will provide project direction, engineering solutions, and implementation oversight for electrical systems in buildings, while supporting larger and high complexity projects with limited support from senior staff.

You will work closely with engineers and consultants to deliver positive client outcomes through project management, engineering analysis, and design oversight. The role also includes working within project budgets, assisting in training and mentoring efforts, and collaborating across disciplines to support education-focused work, with additional exposure to healthcare and public-sector projects, advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do

  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems, using engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations to code and IMEG standards.

  • Perform site assessments and generate detailed analysis and technical reports.

  • Partner with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build client relationships.

  • Review electrical system designs, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence, and implement IMEG quality control processes.

  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff.

  • Provide technical assistance in resolution of field issues with limited support from senior staff.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.

  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work, and identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.

  • Participate in project interviews and project presentations.

What You'll Bring

Required

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required

  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry

  • Adept in the technical aspects of one's discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems

  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)

  • Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu

  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others

  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise

  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships

  • Strong training and mentoring skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays

State of California Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000

Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
