Position Summary

Odyssey has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Communication/Navigation Integration Engineer supporting the Helicopter Division (HD) at Wright Patterson AFB, OH. The HD supports selected helicopter programs including the HH-60W Combat Rescue Helicopter (CRH) and the MH-139. The HD has a mission to rapidly deliver and field new and updated rotary wing aircraft.



Responsibilities

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

    Provide avionics integration support and technical direction across requirements, design, development, modification, testing, production, sustainment, deployment, operations, and divestiture for CNS/ATM systems.
  • Serve as CNI and navigation systems subjectmatter expert, acting as a focal point for development, integration, and technical management.
  • Coordinate with USAF CNS/ATM organizations to create performance matrices, verification methods, data collection processes, and Performance Assessments for civil airspace certification.
  • Provide expertise in navigation databases and technical management for WWND, terrain avoidance data, and missionplanning/loading systems.
  • Apply knowledge of development, testing, certification processes, and related suppliers/agencies (FMS vendors, NGA, AFLCMC/HBM, DAFIF, Jeppesen, A/W/E).
  • Deliver engineering advisory services using multidisciplinary engineering principles to support Defense Acquisition System processes for rotarywing platforms.
  • Perform analyses, evaluations, reviews, and reporting on technical data, proposals, specifications, drawings, program requirements, design changes, OSS&E, and OEM/supplier submissions.
  • Assist with systems engineering across propulsion, sensors, defensive avionics, electromagnetic compatibility, survivability, and integration of weaponsystem components.
  • Support documentation development, briefings, working groups, TIMs, configuration boards, acquisition products (ASP, ITOs), and engineering inputs for PWSs, RFPs, and CDRLs.
  • Provide advisory assistance for requirement translation, cost/benefit analyses, modification project reviews, technical risk identification/mitigation, modeling/simulation activities, and program integration.


Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Secret

Education:

  • ABET accredited Bachelor's Degree in engineering and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, five of which must be in the DoD
  • Master's or Doctorate Degree in a related field and ten years of experience in the respective technical / professional discipline being performed, five years of which must be in the DoD AND an ABET accredited Bachelor's Degree in engineering

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in integrating and managing Communication, Navigation, Surveillance / Air Traffic Management systems, navigation databases, and CNI subsystems.
  • Skilled in developing system requirements, systems engineering, design evaluation, airworthiness/OSS&E assessments, and working with FMS vendors, NGA, DAFIF, Jeppesen, and related agencies.
  • Ability to develop performance matrices, verification methodologies, data collection strategies, performance assessments, modeling/simulation, and trade off studies.
  • Knowledge of propulsion systems, defensive avionics, electromagnetic compatibility, survivability/vulnerability analysis, and integration of sensors and electronic subsystems.
  • Proficiency in DoD acquisition processes (DoDD 5000 series), developing PWS/RFP/CDRL inputs, reviewing specifications/ICDs, conducting technical risk assessments, and producing detailed engineering documentation and briefings.
