Overview
Coordinates accurate verification of approximately 8,000 practitioner files for initial appointment and reappointment within established time frames and in accordance with the standards required by the accrediting/regulatory agencies for all Mercy Network, Mercy Clinic and Mercy Hospitals. This includes preparing and sending applications, gathering, entering and verifying information received in the application process and communicating verbally and written with applicants as necessary to complete their application. Specialist must be detail oriented and have ability to understand complex credentialing requirements needed by facility and variances for credentialing in multiple states. Must be deadline driven and can easily adapt to expedited requests. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Position Details: Education: Bachelor's degree or previous data entry or credentialing experience may be substituted for education. Certifications: Valid certification as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) and/or Certified Professional Medical Services management (CPMSM) preferred. Certification must be passed within two years of becoming eligible for exam. Other: Detail oriented. Able to easily adapt to change. Self-starter. Position requires long hours sitting at a computer. Some travel is required. Position requires flexible hours outside of the normal workday. Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
