Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or analytical discipline (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Research Methodology) or a related social science field.
  • Five years of professional experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or institutional research.
  • Master's degree in a quantitative field or Higher Education Administration.
  • Experience with SQL for data extraction and Python or R for advanced statistical modeling.
  • Professional experience in a higher education setting, specifically within a Student Affairs or Institutional Research office.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Business Intelligence Analyst - Student Success serves as the primary analytics and business intelligence professional for the Division of Student Affairs. This position develops predictive models, dashboards, visualizations, and analytical products that support strategic intelligence, organizational effectiveness, and evidence-informed decision-making across the division.
Working closely with the Office of Institutional Research and campus partners, the Business Intelligence Analyst integrates data from multiple institutional systems to identify trends, forecast outcomes, and evaluate factors influencing student engagement, wellbeing, retention, progression, and graduation. The position provides actionable insights, executive reporting, and student success analyses that inform divisional priorities, resource allocation, and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Working knowledge of Power BI, SQL, and enterprise reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of predictive analytics and statistical modeling techniques.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret large, complex datasets.
  • Ability to translate business needs into analytics, reporting, and visualization solutions.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of student success indicators and higher education data systems.
  • Experience integrating data from multiple enterprise systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical reasoning skills.

Student Success Intelligence and Analytics

  • Analyze and interpret complex longitudinal datasets to identify trends in student retention, progression, and graduation rates as they relate to Student Affairs engagement.
  • Develop predictive models and student success analyses to identify opportunities, risks, and emerging trends.
  • Develop, maintain, and refine key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance measures that support student success, engagement, wellbeing, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
  • Conduct forecasting analyses to support strategic planning and resource allocation decisions.
  • Integrate qualitative and quantitative data sources to provide a comprehensive understanding of the student experience.
  • Generate actionable insights and recommendations to support divisional decision-making.
  • Prepare analyses, visualizations, and supporting materials for Strategic Intelligence Briefs and executive-level reporting.

  • Design, develop, maintain, and continuously improve interactive dashboards, reports, and business intelligence products that support divisional decision-making and strategic intelligence efforts.
  • Develop executive-level visualizations and reporting products that communicate trends, opportunities, risks, and outcomes to various audiences.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for dashboards, data definitions, reporting methodologies, and business intelligence resources.
  • Manage the technical pipelines between divisional systems (e.g., Engage, StarRez, Fusion) and Power BI, ensuring data is accurate and automated.
  • Maintain rigorous standards for data cleaning and validation, ensuring that all visual reports are reliable for executive-level decision-making.

  • Collaborate with Institutional Research on data warehouse integration and reporting initiatives.
  • Support division-wide data governance efforts and common reporting standards.
  • Consult with departmental stakeholders to identify business intelligence needs and reporting priorities across Student Affairs.
  • Coordinate and prioritize analytics, reporting, and data visualization requests from Student Affairs departments and divisional leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional data governance standards and FERPA requirements.
  • Serve as a member of and support the Student Affairs Data & Assessment Council through data analysis and reporting.

  • Stay current on emerging analytics technologies and higher education trends.
