The Paradigm Shift: Why This Role Exists

The classical era of software development where a Product Manager sits in meetings for months, writes a 30-page product requirement document (PRD), and throws it over a wall to engineering to build is no longer the PM job.

With the rise of AI assistants, rapid prototyping tools, and "vibe coding," the structural bottleneck isn't writing code anymore. It's havingimpeccable product taste, deep domain nuance, and the execution speed to find the right solution before the market shifts.

At Yext, we are the trusted source of truth for the world's largest multi-location enterprises for their marketing. Our platform ensures that when a consumer asks an AI assistant or a search engine about a brand, the answer is accurate, localized, and context-aware.

We don't need an agile process coordinator. We need a high-agency Product Builder.

What You Will Do

You will drive key innovation within one of our core anchors, Competitive Intelligence, Data Syndication, or Consumer Experience, and are responsible for bringing to life a vision of autonomous marketing built for the world of AI Search.

  • Prototype at the Speed of Thought: You won't wait for engineering or design bandwidth to validate an idea. You will actively use modern tools (Claude, Codex, Cursor) to spin up functional proofs-of-concept, mockups, or automated data pipelines to de-risk ideas, with real users, by lunchtime.
  • Obsessively Refine Product Taste: You are a perpetual student of the craft and the customers domain. Whether through deep-dive analysis of industry trends and competitors, constant experimentation with emerging AI interfaces, or engaging in active feedback loops with power users, you relentlessly cultivate the domain nuance required to build industry-defining search products.
  • You measure outcomes: You balance high-speed prototyping with deep operational discipline, instrumenting analytics and benchmarking performance to deliver high-impact results. You possess a pragmatic approach to prioritization, ruthlessly focusing on the 20% of effort that drives 80% of business outcomes.
  • Scale to Production and take to Market: You will partner with world-class engineering squads to harden your high-conviction prototypes into scalable, secure, and highly instrumented global enterprise features. You will ensure the follow through of our solutions out to the market and to our customers, to ensure you have solved the problem.

Who You Are

You might be an ex-founder who loves the early-stage chaos. You might be a highly technical SEO or marketing-technology architect who has been hacking custom scripts together for years. Or you might be an engineer who realized they care far more about user psychology than codebase optimization. Or you are an experienced PM who has realized the job has changed and you want to be a part of something that is moving fast and has ambition.

We are filtering for four core superpowers:

  1. Customer Empathy: You are genuinely interested in the world of marketing and seek to connect with our customers to understand their goals and objectives and how we can help them succeed.
  2. Foresight & Vision: You possess a proven ability to anticipate future trends and "see around corners." You maintain a natural, persistent curiosity regarding the future of technology.
  3. AI Curiosity & Architecture Expertise: You use LLMs, vector databases, and RAG daily. You understand the shift from "blue links" to conversational interfaces and the importance of structured data, semantic search, and schema.org.
  4. An Engineering Mindset for Rigor: You are level-headed. While you love the speed of a prototype, you possess the operational discipline to instrument analytics, benchmark product performance, and ruthlessly prioritize the 20% of effort that drives 80% of business outcomes.

What we DON'T care about:

  • Certification in Agile/Scrum frameworks.
  • An MBA or a mandatory computer science degree (though a technical background is highly valued, we care about what you can build, not your credentials).
  • 5+ years of sitting in a legacy PM seat writing Jira tickets.

What we DO care about:

  • A portfolio or track record of building and shipping things people actually use; knowing that building a solution is only halfway to ensure it's delivering value.
  • Intense customer empathy and the ability to speak the language of enterprise data buyers.
  • Accountability and high agency.
