Sr. Staff Software Engineer - Multiple Positions

Sr. Staff Software Engineer (Multiple Positions), Databricks, Inc., Mountain View, CA. Oversee and direct software engineering teams designing and building large-scale distributed data platforms. Supervise engineers, delegate assignments, mentor staff, lead sprint and project planning, and coordinate cross-functional initiatives. Guide architecture design and long-term technical strategy. Design and implement systems for query optimization and compilation, distributed query execution and scheduling, vectorized execution engines, data security frameworks, transaction coordination, resource management, and efficient storage structures with automated data optimization. Ensure platforms are scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient to support the full data lifecycle from ingestion and ETL to BI and ML/AI workloads. Monitor and improve performance, ensure high availability, reliability, and compliance, debug production systems, and resolve complex issues on large clusters. Translate technical requirements into customer-facing solutions, align projects with business goals, drive operational efficiency, and deliver measurable customer satisfaction while leading initiatives that advance product innovation and organizational objectives.  40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Salary: $228,600 - $342,800/yr.

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field and 36 months of software engineering experience.

 In the alternative, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field and 72 months of progressive, post-bachelor’s software engineering experience.

Must have 36 months of experience in each of the following (which may be gained concurrently):

• Large-scale distributed web services, distributed systems, databases, compilers, performance optimization, and big data systems such as Spark or Hadoop;
• Building a long-term roadmap for software team project or product delivery and monitoring to ensure SLAs are met;
• Instituting efficient processes to increase software product or project velocity and quality;
• Managing teams that build or operate high volume systems in an Saas, ML or data-focused environment; and
• Machine Learning algorithms including classification.

Must have 36 months of experience in at least 2 or more of the following (which may be gained concurrently):

• Scala, Java or Python;
• Cloud; and
• API, REST, Soap, Agile, Jira, GIT, AngularJS, or NodeJS.
