What you'll do

Our Ground Network Deployment team is looking for a hands-on Project Controls Engineer to lead the controls discipline behind global satellite ground infrastructure deployment and help shape an AI-enabled PMO. You will partner with project managers, engineers, contractors, and business teams to own cost, schedule, forecasting, reporting, and project controls administration while advancing the use of AI, automation, and analytics.

  • This is a hybrid, site-based role that combines in-office collaboration with remote flexibility. Time spent in the Tempe office will be determined by project and program needs.

The day-to-day

  • Own project controls activities across global ground infrastructure programs.
  • Establish and maintain cost baselines using Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Develop forecasts and Estimates at Completion (EACs).
  • Analyze cost and schedule performance to identify emerging risks.
  • Build and maintain integrated project schedules.
  • Manage schedule baselines, resource loading, critical paths, and recovery planning.
  • Use trend analysis and what-if modeling to recommend corrective actions.
  • Implement AI-enabled reporting, forecasting, analytics, and PMO workflows.
  • Conduct site visits to validate progress and improve forecast accuracy.
  • Coordinate project controls inputs across internal teams, contractors, and project managers.
  • Own the accuracy and timeliness of project controls reporting.
  • Own contract, purchase order, and change order tracking.
  • Own invoice tracking and support monthly financial close activities.
  • Ensure WBS and code-of-accounts adherence.
  • Coordinate recurring program reviews and own action-item follow-through.
  • Maintain project records, reporting tools, and PMO systems.

What you'll need

  • 3-7 years of Project Controls, Program Controls, Cost Engineering, Scheduling, or related experience.
  • Experience applying Earned Value Management (EVM) to cost performance, forecasting, and Estimates at Completion.
  • Experience using Critical Path Method (CPM) to identify schedule drivers, risks, and recovery opportunities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and data analysis.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or a similar scheduling tool.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or verifiable equivalent experience.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%.

What will help you on the job

  • Passion for EVM, forecasting, and project performance analytics.
  • Experience implementing AI, automation, or advanced analytics within a PMO.
  • Curiosity about using AI to improve project controls and program execution.
  • Familiarity with Oracle, Ariba, SAP, SiteTracker, or equivalent enterprise systems.
  • Ability to identify trends before they become project issues.
  • Ability to communicate complex cost and schedule information to diverse stakeholders.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and desire to evolve PMO practices.
