Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator 2 - Surgery to join the team. This role will be full-time, Monday - Friday; 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator 2 - Surgery Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides patient education and medical information to study patients to ensure understanding of proper medication dosage, administration, and disease treatment.
  • Delineates and defines the physiological status of the patient. Assesses the educational, psychological, and spiritual needs of the patient/significant other/family.
  • Administers investigational medications and performs patient assessments during clinic visits to determine the presence of side effects; notifies treating investigator of findings/issues
  • Performs nursing duties as assigned and relevant to credentials and research study needs
  • Ensures proper protocol elements and requirements are met during study procedures. Anticipates and mitigates the potential for protocol non-compliance.
  • Ensures subject safety, related documentation and reporting. Escalates when needed and minimizes risks.
  • Oversees investigational products development process and applies key regulatory requirements, executes Good Clinical Practice (GCP)-related clinical study activities and non-GCP-related clinical study activities, and documents data in accordance with ALCOA-C (Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original, Accurate and Complete) principles.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: BSN or AD. If RN has an AD, within six months from date of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following: 1.) Identify which accredited school they plan to attend 2.) Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date 3.) Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses 4.) Complete BSN within 24 months of start date.

  • Experience: 3 years nursing including at least 2 years clinical research experience

  • Certification/Licensure: CRC or CRN Certification after 2 years clinical research experience; Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association; RN with VA license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience: Recent nursing experience with a strong clinical background; recently supported drug and/or device clinical trials; well-rounded clinical research experience

  • Other: Collaborative team player; Proactive, curious, and willing to contribute beyond immediate research responsibilities; Demonstrates initiative and a willingness to support broader team and research needs
