The Police Officer

• Provides professional law enforcement services to the Carilion Clinic. These services include carrying out the objectives of the Clinic, the preservation of peace and protection of life and property, the prevention of crime and the enforcement of laws.
• Locates and investigates suspicious conditions and complaints by responding to calls and patrolling Carilion Clinic facilities for security breaches such as unlocked doors and open windows.
• Assists and coordinates with outside law enforcement agencies while they are interacting with hospital services, visitors, patients or staff.
• Guards and/or provides security for prisoners, mental health patients, special events, dignitaries and staff when a need is identified.
• Responds quickly and professionally to all calls for service involving traffic, criminal or non-criminal incidents and requests for information or assistance.
• Enforces laws, investigates crimes and processes crime scenes.
• Directs traffic while monitoring and enforcing parking regulations.
• Writes and files all required reports in a timely manner.

Education: High School Graduate or GED required.

Experience: None

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Virginia minimum training standards for law enforcement officers and is currently certified as a law enforcement officer by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and valid Virginia driver's license required. AHA-BLS - HCP required.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must possess a driving record within the scope of Carilions Driver Regulations. Due to Virginias state law, the applicant must be at least 21 years of age. Computer keyboarding skills. Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Meets Virginias minimum requirements for law enforcement officers.

Compensation Range:

Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
