Job Overview:

The Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) is designed specifically for the care of postoperative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients. Our CTICU offers cardiac and patients who need more focused heart monitoring a special unit that is committed to patients and their families - providing comforting and healing care.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognizing subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands-on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care
• Taking an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing; be I.V. certified from an approved facility; hold a current American Heart Association BLS certification and current ACLS upon hire. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is strongly preferred; a minimum of 2 years of critical care experience is required, as is prior patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position offers a per diem/on call, option 3 night schedule, which is 2 x 12.5-hour shifts per month, both shifts on weekend, 1 x 12.5 hour Summer Holiday (July 4th, Easter, Labor Day) and 1 x 12.5 hour Winter Holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year Day).
