The University of California (UC), Davis, School of Medicine, Department of Public Health Sciences is seeking to fill one Assistant Professor faculty position in the Regular/In-Residence series to collaborate on research on environmental and occupational health.

As an Assistant Professor of Environmental and Occupational Health, the appointee chosen for this position will be responsible for independent research, collaborative research, teaching, mentoring, and service in the areas of occupational and environmental health.

Environmental and occupational health topics include (but are not limited to) exposure assessment or epidemiology in the area of green or blue spaces, the built environment, pollutants (e.g., air pollution, water pollution, pesticides, 'forever' chemicals), noise, and/or climate change (e.g., extreme temperatures and wildfires) and the impact of these factors on health outcomes in the general population or occupational populations.

This position would be housed within and will support the mission of the UC Davis Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (COEH). The COEH at UC Davis is part of the state-legislated Northern California COEH, which brings together faculty and staff on the Davis, Berkeley, and San Francisco campuses of the University of California to:

* Educate future leaders in occupational and environmental health

* Develop new knowledge related to occupational and environmental health issues

* Bring the resources of the University of California to people affected by health hazards in their workplaces or communities

These three core activities are grounded in a multi-campus, multidisciplinary approach to problem solving based upon teamwork and training in medicine, nursing, public health, and related fields. The UC Davis COEH builds upon these core areas through research built upon strengths of UC Davis and translational activities that broaden the influence of the Center.

The Department of Public Health Sciences is a major research and teaching department in the School of Medicine. Areas of active research in the Department include occupational/environmental health, health disparities, reproductive and women's health, cancer, Alzheimer's disease, aging, behavioral health, nutrition, obesity, children's health, autism and neurodevelopmental disorders, respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease, access to care, mobile health technologies, climate change, infectious disease, injuries, and worksite health interventions, as well as biostatistical methods related to these areas. The Division of Occupational and Environmental Health faculty have active collaborations both within the department and with faculty in many other departments and centers, including the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Clinical and Translational Science Center, the MIND Institute, the Environmental Health Sciences Center, and the Alzheimer's Disease Center.

Applicants must possess a doctoral degree (PhD or ScD) in environmental health, occupational health, or epidemiology.

Preference will be given to candidates with strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Candidates must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.

Experience in a similar academic faculty position that includes teaching occupational and environmental health preferred.

An established record of collaborative and independent research is preferred, including recent peer-reviewed publications; demonstrated experience with the design, analysis, and reporting of occupational and environmental epidemiologic research studies; and experience obtaining extramural grant funding, including participation in grant writing.
