Duties, Responsibilities & Other

    Perform field construction inspection and documentation services on various roadway construction projects; Review and analyze the design of roadways; and/or heavy highway and bridge projects.
  • At least 5 - 9+ year's experience as an engineer and working in a design or construction inspection related field. Must have previous design or construction experience on Major Utility and Capital Roadway Projects.
  • Candidate must be able to read, write and communicate fluently. Candidate must possess basic math skills including geometry and trigonometry. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to understand construction plans, specifications and procedures. Candidate will be responsible for documentation of daily construction activities, which includes the measurement and calculation of pay quantities. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to perform quality control testing on highway materials. Candidate must be a strong leader with the ability to manage and mentor subordinate staff.
  • Position may require overnight travel. Candidate must have valid Driver's License and reliable transportation. Candidate must have the ability to sometimes work in adverse weather conditions. Candidate must be physically able to perform moderately strenuous tasks; which includes walking along rough terrain, climbing ladders and lifting up to 50 pounds. Candidate must be available to possibly work night shift or a varied work schedule.
  • PE Required.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 - 9 years of experience required.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.


Performance Expectations

  • Complete Annual Individual Training Program
  • Comply with all KCI policies and procedures
  • Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements
  • Establish strong working relationship with client, contractors, and design engineers
  • Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target
  • Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope
  • Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters
  • Assist in negotiating contractor change orders
  • Maintain document control for correspondence, RFIs, submittals, etc.
  • Oversee project schedule and budget
  • Prepare and analyze schedules
  • Prepare cost estimates
  • Read plans and specifications and understand the construction contractor's means and methods
  • Solve construction problems in the field
  • Test, document, and assure quality of contractor's work
