Position Overview


Primary Purpose of Position
The successful candidate will conduct research on modeling and control and perception of autonomous vehicles under faulty and normal conditions. The candidate will also support funded projects through original research, collaboration with other team members, development and internal evaluation of reports, facilitating the research meetings within the team, mentoring of students, and technically and financially overseeing projects' milestones. The candidate will also contribute to proposal development efforts, thereby strengthening North Carolina A&T State University's ability to attract external funding. The candidate will publish research results, in collaboration with his supervisor, in recognized journals. The candidate will share student mentoring with his supervisor and will participate in departmental seminars and other professional activities as assigned. The candidate will be also working with both graduate and undergraduate students in a mentoring role, and will be involved in conducting workshops, and seminars. The candidate will enjoy a dynamic and collaborative working environment.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is one of the largest departments in the College of Engineering with more than 440 students in its four degree programs. The four programs are a BS in electrical engineering, a BS in computer engineering, an MS in electrical engineering, and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering. Minimum Requirements
1. Ph.D. awarded within the last five years in Electrical and Computer Engineering or
related area, specializing in Control, Robotics, Formal Methods.
2. A strong theoretical and experimental background with evidence of skills related to
formal methods and their applications to robotic systems.
3. The candidate is expected to have good skills in writing scientific papers and
technical reports.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
The ideal candidate should have experience with fault diagnosis, automata theory, modeling and control of robotic systems, as well as good programming skills in Python, C++, and ROS.
