Cell Lead- 2nd Shift (12:30pm- 9pm)

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The production senior coordinates the activities of the production department staff and is a leader of the team.

Supervision and Interaction: Oversees the work efforts of a single cell or multiple cells within the production department. Communicates with the production supervisor.

Essential Functions:

• Efficiency within the work cell.
• Training and cross-training of staff.
• Maintaining compliance of standard labor.
• Performing 10 cycle checks.
• Ensuring cleanliness of operations and area and effective use of 5-minute cleanup at end of day.
• Logging any outages, equipment downtime, etc.
• Reporting scrap and rework, substitutions and actual wages.
• Ensuring all work cell members are on task at beginning of day, after breaks and through the end of the day.
• Accurately and timely reports pack and actual time to production control.
• Completes and verifies work order transactions.
• Review required production schedule and work orders for the work cell to fulfill necessary orders.
• Direct setup and adjustments of machines. Complete in-process inspection steps.
• Ensure safety regulation enforcement within the work cell.
• Establish work procedures to meet production schedules for the work cell; adjust as necessary.
• Recommend adjustments to improve methods, equipment performance and product quality within the work cell.
• Analyze and resolve problems that directly affect work output for the work cell.
• Train production staff in process changes/enhancements.
• Ensure production compliance with Velcon goals of manufacturing, i.e., one piece flow, accountability, efficiency, and continuous process improvement within the work cell.
• Motivate workers within the work cell to achieve established goals.
• Responsible for the quality of workmanship and communication of work instructions and workmanship standards for the Production staff within the work cell.
• Inspect machines and equipment within the work cell to ensure specific operational performance.
• Identify and respond to bottlenecks in work process.
• Confer with Production Floor Supervisor to solve problems affecting production schedules.
• Standardize procedures to improve efficiency of work cell and subordinates.
• Inspect products manufactured in the work cell to verify conformance to quality and specifications.
• Examine materials delivered to the work cell to verify conformance to specifications.
• * Performs duties of workers which report to this position.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED equivalent
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Manufacturing experience is preferred
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs
• Ability to stand for an extended period of time
• Knowledge of basic mathematical arithmetic and diagram reading
