Job Summary

The Senior Studio Technician is responsible for overseeing and addressing the maintenance and operational needs of the Jewelry Center's four studios. As the liaison between students, faculty, the Art Center office, and the Senior Director of Jewelry, the technician will ensure the smooth communication and coordination of the Jewelry center. Additional responsibilities include managing and assisting with occasional workshops, visiting artist programs, Teen Gems, and the yearly Artist in Residence.



Job Responsibilities Include

    Order, replenish and inventory studio, class and workshop supplies, supply lists, and materials efficiently and proactively in collaboration with jewelry faculty and the Senior Director.
  • Oversee the general upkeep and appearance of the studios, ensuring studios stay organized, safe, and clean weekly.
  • Maintain all jewelry tools and equipment repairing and replacing items as needed.
  • Train faculty and staff on proper use of tools and equipment and safety procedures.
  • Oversee and schedule Jewelry Benchtime Monitors.
  • Maintain jewelry library: organizing, procuring, and processing new books.
  • Interact and engage with faculty, students, and staff responding positively and efficiently to questions or concerns raised and providing effective pragmatic solutions.
  • Coordinate the needs of visiting artists and act as a teaching assistant to them during their workshops. Coordinate vendor sale, assigning sales dates, room set ups, and create signage.
  • Assist Senior Director, Jewelry with the Jewelry Artist in Residence program, scheduling arrival and accommodation needs.


Experience, Education, & Skills Desired

  • BFA in Jewelry & Metals.

  • A general understating of Jewelry studio upkeep maintenance, tool repair and safety.

  • 1 year of studio maintenance experience preferred.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage a classroom room and studio atmosphere.

  • Strong understanding of jewelry studio safety.



Work Environment & Requirements

Typical work schedule will be Thursdays and Fridays, 9 AM - 5 PM with occasional evening or weekend hours as programming requires. Some flexibility will be needed.

Per Diem Compensation

$32/hour

The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
