Position Summary

Do you enjoy solving complex technical challenges in a team environment? Can you identify the specific strengths of a team, and direct those strengths effectively? Can you cast a forward-looking strategic vision, and work across business functions to drive that vision? Sealed Air is undergoing transformational change and we need dynamic leaders in our Innovation & Development (I&D) organization to drive that change.

This position will support our growth strategy by leading the development of automation equipment and optimizing our current portfolio of solutions in the high-performance packaging space. The scope of work in the I&D organization is broad and will require this position to provide technical and project leadership within I&D, across department boundaries, and with external partners, throughout all stages of product development and lifecycle management. The value brought by the qualified individual will be crucial to Sealed Air's success on some of our most critical growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop technical skillset of the engineering team in the areas of machine design and equipment development.
  • Lead and teach the team in professional skillsets and business acumen with a focus on creating influential collaboration that speeds up the implementation and growth of Sealed Air's solutions.
  • Provide strategic leadership to drive the enhancement of current product lines and the development of new product lines.
  • Create a clear understanding of customer value statements and drive the validation of the value created.
  • Lead multiple initiatives to provide technical solutions to customers and drive the cross-functional execution required to ensure commercial success of new solutions.
  • Provide technical oversight throughout development efforts.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain to implement solutions regionally and globally.
  • Work with the Supply Chain organization to improve the manufacturability of our equipment solutions and the strength of our current portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering or packaging discipline; master's degree in a technical discipline is preferred.
  • Demonstrated history of professional and technical leadership.
  • Demonstrated history of people management/development skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication of technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated success in managing competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated success in building high-performance teams and attracting/retaining best-in-class technical talent.
  • Proven track record of opportunity identification and translating ideas into commercial success.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team, generating results with general/minimal guidance from management.
  • Proven business acumen facilitating collaboration across functions, regions, and business segments.
  • Ability to work globally with appropriate sensitivities to cultures and business practices.
  • Broad technical knowledge and hands on experience in functional area(s).
  • Demonstrated history of meeting technical challenges with creative and innovative solutions.
  • Ability to effectively interface with internal and external customers and provide a high level of customer service.
  • Experienced in on-site installation and troubleshooting of equipment and systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a work ethic that corresponds with Sealed Air's core values.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with project management philosophies and application.
