Provides psychological evaluation and psychotherapeutic services to medical patients and when appropriate significant others. Consults with physicians and nurses and makes recommendations for appropriate services. Functions as a clinical resource to members of multidisciplinary treatment teams. May provide recommendations for program development around issues of health psychology. May supervise doctoral and post-doctoral trainees in psychology. Patients may include adolescents, adult, and geriatric populations.

Psychologist will see new onset stroke/TBI patients and those with new amputations. Rehabilitation psychology/neuropsychology are trained to track recovery from traumatic brain injury with the Rancho Los Amigos Scale. If there are more serious brain injuries, the psychologist will need to be able to assess patient daily.

Interventions can range from reviewing coping skills and teaching new ones to working with nursing to assist with tracking sleep over a period of days or calling BHS outpatient and scheduling a follow up mental health appointment for patient or family after discharge. Sometimes co-treating with the therapist to see what may be occurring and keeping the patient from making the expected progress.

REQUIRED:
1. Doctoral degree with primary study in Clinical Psychology.

2. Licensed as a psychologist

3. Completion of one (1) year supervised clinical internship.

4. Must be CPR certified.

PREFERRED:
1. Experience working with new onset stroke/TBI and those with new amputations.
