Manufacturing Engineer, Energy Products Industrial

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated hands-on Manufacturing Engineer for a position in the Energy Manufacturing Engineering group as part of the "machine that builds the machine". The role is focused on working within a cross functional team to design and develophigh quality, efficient manufacturing equipment and processes that will produceproducts for Tesla Energy.

• Design and develop manufacturing equipment and fixtures to support early-stage prototype builds

• Determine and procure equipment that is necessary for all manufacturing processes used to build the product
• Conceptual equipment development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits
• Work with equipment integrators to design and manufacture equipment and fixtures for medium to high-volume production
• Provide DFM (design for manufacturability) input to design team for process and yield improvements
• Support building, debugging, validation and equipment duplication efforts, and fine-tune equipment for release to production
• Conduct detailed testing and validation of installed machinery, including on-site and off-site acceptance testing (SAT/FAT), to ensure robustness and quality

• 2+ years of experience as Mechanical/Manufacturing/Automation Engineer with focus in automation, machine design, robotics, and product development
• Experience using 2D CAD tools for conceptual line design (AutoCAD)and 3D design for mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling (SolidWorks or CATIA)
• Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to production
• Experience with conveyance, transducer-based fastening systems, robotic systems (prefer Fanuc)
• Experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment
• Experience providing Design for Manufacturability and Automation
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field, or equivalent experience
