POSITION TITLE: Kettle Driver

REPORTS TO: Corps Officer

STATUS: Temporary/Seasonal, Non-Exempt

WORK HOURS: Monday through Saturday - some split shifts up to 40 hours a week.

Approximate start date November 18^th and working through December 24^th.

FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

Drive Bell Ringers, stands, and collection buckets to their locations daily per the routes scheduled. Perform other Christmas-related duties that require driving, such as food pick up, toy collection pickups, and other duties as assigned by the Commanding Officer.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Your primary immediate supervisors are the Commanding Officers of the Tacoma Corps. You will be directed by the Commanding Officers as it related to food and toy program pickups.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license.
• Must pass The Salvation Army's in house driving test and Motor vehicles Records check.
• Must be willing to continually lift 30 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Able to drive own or TSA vehicle (Based on availability)

SUMMARY OF DRIVER DUTIES:

1. Overview the daily kettle schedule as given to you by the Commanding Officers. Gather all supplies needed for the different locations (buckets, bells, aprons, etc.). Drive the route daily, delivering Bell Ringers or meeting Them at their assigned post.
2. As needed by the Commanding Officers, aid in the formation of workers' daily schedules. Give input on results and observations that would impact Bell Ringers' performance of their duties.
3. Instruct Bell Ringers on their responsibilities each day: remain in the assigned location, ring their bell, and take the appropriate breaks and lunch as required.
4. As directed by the Commanding Officers, perform "welfare" checks of the Bell Ringers throughout their shifts. Make notes of any violations by the Bell Ringers of their duties that you might observe.
5. At the end of each location shift, pick up the bucket for that shift and secure any other equipment that the bell ringer no longer needs.
6. Report any troubles immediately to the Commanding Officers.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
2. Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects such as files, boxes of food, or other objects and reach overhead.
3. Ability to lift 30 pounds.
4. Ability to operate a telephone.
5. Ability to understand, use, and respond to written information.
6. Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
7. Ability to operate a pallet jack.
8. Ability to perform all tasks as assigned
