JOB DESCRIPTION

The Inventory Technician / Buyer will play a vital role in managing inventory control and purchasing services in the Supply Chain Department where a smaller compliment of staff wears many hats and provides a smaller, though wider, range of services at our smaller affiliated healthcare organizations. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can efficiently handle multiple responsibilities and adapt to the dynamic needs of the organization. The Technician will report directly to the local Supply Chain Operations Leader and have an indirect reporting relationship to the Network Purchasing Director. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of the supply chain, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and supporting the overall procurement process as assigned. While the inventory control responsibilities are specific to the organization, the purchasing activities, as part of a centralized service for the network, may support other affiliated organizations within the network.

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent.

Associate's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory control, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably within a healthcare setting.

KNOWLEDGE/SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Inventory Control: Understanding of inventory control principles and practices, including stock rotation, cycle counting, and inventory reconciliation.

  • Purchasing: Familiarity with purchasing processes, vendor management, and procurement best practices.

  • Technology: Proficiency in inventory management software, ERP systems, and data entry.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues, vendors, and other stakeholders.

  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Confidentiality: It is an expectation that all employees at The University of Vermont Medical Center will protect the confidentiality of all patient care, personnel, and business/financial information. Employees will demonstrate their confidentiality knowledge through the use of a self-study information package and test.

  • Compliance: Employees will complete required competencies, annual mandatory training requirements and adhere to the code of conduct as described in The University of Vermont Medical Center Compliance Plan and brochure. In addition, the individual in this position can provide care and support to all age groups or patients in his/her assigned practice/work area based on physical/psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria.
