Overview

We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our Delivery Sciences team group to help with our kidney delivery efforts. The candidate must be independent, goal oriented, technically competent, and able to work efficiently across multiple projects as well as cross-functionally. We are searching for enthusiastic, innovative, and highly motivated individuals. The candidate must have a scientific background in kidney biology and physiology with demonstrated experience in designing and characterizing preclinical models of human disease as well as kidney in vitro models. This is a laboratory-based position located at Alnylam's Cambridge office.

This position is onsite and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and characterize renal complex in-vitro systems for evaluating target engagement (healthy and diseased).
  • Develop in vivo disease models to assess pharmacological efficacy and validate therapeutic hypotheses.
  • Execute standard molecular biology techniques (RT-qPCR, ELISA, Western blots, etc.).
  • Work cross-functionally with teams across the organization to contribute to the strategic direction of kidney programs through carful experimental design and execution.
  • Proper electronic notebook record keeping with high attention to detail.
  • Clear communication of experimental plans and data to multiple cross-functional scientific teams.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field with 3-5 years of relevant kidney experience in a biopharma or academic setting.
  • Deep understanding of kidney biology, physiology and pathology.
  • Extensive experience with advanced cell culture systems including stem cell culture, 3D cultures, or organoids.
  • Strong background in molecular biology techniques, imaging, and data analysis are required.
  • Experience with oligonucleotide-based therapeutics will be preferred.
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver conclusive results.
  • Highly adaptable and responsive to new priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with ELN recording keeping.
