Associate Director, Research

Overview

The Research Department at Alnylam is seeking discovery biology scientist forleading the charge of delivery solutions in priority tissues/cell types with compelling therapeutic targets. The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of biological sciences with expertise in one of the key tissue/cell types. The focus will be on solving delivery for therapeutic targets of interest that advance as programs in clinical development. The candidate will have a unique opportunity to work on therapeutic targets from discovery and enable them into development. The individual will need excellent collaboration and communication skills, connecting interdisciplinary team members from medicinal chemistry, core delivery technology group and targets team. Expertise in oligonucleotide conjugate delivery is essential. Experience in the field of antibodies and antibody drug conjugates is a plus.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

• Lead teams working on delivery of RNAi therapeutics in priority tissues/cell types with compelling therapeutic targets of interest.
• Mentor high-performing teams with goal of best-in-class delivery solutions allowing subcutaneous dosing (preferably), effective dose of 1 mg/kg or less, wide therapeutic index and clear path for CMC
• Identify and establish external collaborations to fast-track internal efforts
• Transparently communicate results with key stakeholders to execute on portfolio and business strategy.

Qualifications

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in biopharma setting
• Expertise in tissues/cell biology with expertise in at least one specific area
• Experience in the field of nucleic acids or antibody drug conjugates will be a plus
• Strong track record of building, mentoring and leading interdisciplinary, collaborative teams
• Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) are essential

U.S. Pay Range

$166,200.00 - $249,200.00

The pay range reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education. This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).
